Idea: Royal Bavarian Geocaching Stammtisch Munich
Design & Production: Claudia Siebauer, mygeocoin.de
About the coin:
15 years have passed since the first geocachers have arranged to meet in Munich and Windis (Wolfgang Wintersberger) has called for a regular Stammtisch. As one of the most active and oldest local communities, the people of Munich are not only known for the worldwides first giga event, but also for celebrating events like this - whether with beer. with yummy food or with a new coin :-)
Already for the 5th and 10th anniversary, a Geocoin was launched, so that consequently the 15th anniversary was honored with an anniversary geocoin which outclasses all previous Munich coins in size and effort ;-)
The Coin shows the carillon in the entrance tower of the Munich City Hall, a well-known landmark of the city, which can be admired daily from 11-12 o'clock. (
Wikipedia)
The 43 bells and 32 characters weigh around 7000kg and tell of Munich legend in 4 different melodies, which are changed monthly. Definitely a must-do if you are in Munich (and a
virtual can be found there too).
The details and figures of the facade are exactly shown on smallest detail on the coin, even the trumpet and a bell hammer in the hands of the characters can be easily seen! Like the moving theater of the real carillon, the inner part of the coin is spinning movable and shows on the back a historic board with the anniversary dates and the silhouette of King Ludwig II, which is also shown on the two previous anniversary coins.
The back of the tower facade shows an old masonry dating back to the year 2004, which is entwined with wild ivy, whose leaves in transparent color create a beautiful color accent.
Characteristics of the coin:
2-part with spinning inner part
both sides 3d
100 x 58mm
5mm thick
133g weight
filigree details
transparent color over 2nd level
